Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day came with coughing, sneezing, headache and congestion. Yep, you guessed it both Mo and I are sick. If you have read my previous post you know that we picked up my in-laws at the airport when they returned home with colds. So, why are we sick?

All in all we just had to switch our plans for Thanksgiving some and spent a few hours at my parents house. I did go to Weight Watchers on Friday and sat far away from everyone at the meeting with hopes that I didn't make anyone sick. Exercise has been on the back burner since I have been hacking up a lung for the past few days.

Continuing on this journey is what I'm planning for the next week. I know I have been off track lately. Now it's time for me to get feeling better and back to a healthier way of life.

Here is the latest result:
284.4 lbs
44.5 BMI
104 lbs until the adoption process begins.

Till next week.

Airport Pickup

Airport Pickup

Returning home from a trip to New York to pick up Mo's parents from the JFK Airport and spending the weekend at his parents home never felt so good. Mo and I were making good time on our travels until we hit the city at which time our smooth car ride seemed to come to a pace that even a snail could out pace. After spending 3 hours in traffic to go a total of 15 miles on top of our 4 hour car ride just to get to the city, I was happy to get out of the car and wait for my in-laws to arrive home from their trip to Hajj.

Happy to see them again we packed them into our car for another long drive. They both were sick and coughing away but they made it home alive. After stopping briefly for Mo & I to eat our first meal of the day at 8pm we continued on with our journey. We finally reached our final destination at 11:30pm.

With all the traveling we ate many of our meals out. Lets just say I have postponed my weigh in at Weight Watchers this week until Friday. From here on out I will be attending the Friday morning meetings and will be reporting those results the following Tuesday.

Starting to undo all the bad things I have done with my diet lately will be my focus for this week. I am hoping to get back on the treadmill and burn at least 500 calories daily and drink more water this upcoming week. I have also decided that being vegetarian is just not in my cards. It was getting to be to much for me to prepare our different meals. This will also mean I will have more time to exercise because I won't be in the kitchen twice as long.

Results will be posted next Tuesday.
Till next week...

What A WeeK

What A Week

What a week. Out of respect this post will be short and not about my journey.

From someone who has lived in Central Pennsylvania my entire life the recent scandal that is rocking my hometown is heart breaking. You can't go anywhere in town without seeing a news van or hearing people talking about it. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims involved and may you find the strength you need to start the healing process.

Till next week..

Happy Birthday Dad

Happy Birthday Dad
I have been spending time doing fall clean up in my yard, raking an endless supply of leaves. No sooner do I get my entire yard looking nice within ten minutes it is scattered with leaves again, oh the joys of living in the woods. I really don't mind doing yard work in fact I look at it as a form of exercise, but sometimes enough is enough. I have managed to find muscles by the dull ache in my body that I didn't even know existed. On a good note they will soon be done falling. Then the snow will start falling and my new exercise buddy will be my snow shovel.

Last weekend my Dad turned 60 and we had a surprise party for him. While preparing for the party my Dad invited Mo and I to have dinner the evening of the party. I had to chuckle because he had just invited me to his own surprise party without knowing. While having breakfast out with my parents the morning of the party my Dad grabbed the bill that was brought to the table and asked Mom "Do you want me to pay for this?" As mom snatched the bill out of his hand she said "I'll buy your birthday breakfast." At this time I look at my dad and said "Is today the 5th?". Dad stood up to put his jacket on and said "Yes, today is my birthday now forget about it." As we walked out of the restaurant to the car my dad mumbled to me "See if I remember your birthday next year." jokingly. Now not only do I have him convinced that I forgot his birthday, I know he really has no clue there is going to be a party.

While he spent the morning shopping for antiques with Mom we got ready for the party and waited for the guest of honor. As we all stood outside watching my Dad take the final turn into the drive way the look on his face said it all he was having a HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

With all of the events behind us, I now have time to exercise and prepare healthy meals again. I did not make it to Weight Watchers on Monday because I lost track of time while working in my yard. I will be attending next Monday and will be posting the results in my next post no matter how good or bad.

Till next week...
