Happy Birthday Dad
I have been spending time doing fall clean up in my yard, raking an endless supply of leaves. No sooner do I get my entire yard looking nice within ten minutes it is scattered with leaves again, oh the joys of living in the woods. I really don't mind doing yard work in fact I look at it as a form of exercise, but sometimes enough is enough. I have managed to find muscles by the dull ache in my body that I didn't even know existed. On a good note they will soon be done falling. Then the snow will start falling and my new exercise buddy will be my snow shovel.
Last weekend my Dad turned 60 and we had a surprise party for him. While preparing for the party my Dad invited Mo and I to have dinner the evening of the party. I had to chuckle because he had just invited me to his own surprise party without knowing. While having breakfast out with my parents the morning of the party my Dad grabbed the bill that was brought to the table and asked Mom "Do you want me to pay for this?" As mom snatched the bill out of his hand she said "I'll buy your birthday breakfast." At this time I look at my dad and said "Is today the 5th?". Dad stood up to put his jacket on and said "Yes, today is my birthday now forget about it." As we walked out of the restaurant to the car my dad mumbled to me "See if I remember your birthday next year." jokingly. Now not only do I have him convinced that I forgot his birthday, I know he really has no clue there is going to be a party.
While he spent the morning shopping for antiques with Mom we got ready for the party and waited for the guest of honor. As we all stood outside watching my Dad take the final turn into the drive way the look on his face said it all he was having a HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
With all of the events behind us, I now have time to exercise and prepare healthy meals again. I did not make it to Weight Watchers on Monday because I lost track of time while working in my yard. I will be attending next Monday and will be posting the results in my next post no matter how good or bad.
Till next week...
